Description
Laboratory Technicians play a vital role in the diagnoses and prevention of diseases. They work under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, Lab Manager or a Physician. Their daily duties responsibilities include:

Collecting, testing, processing, labelling and processing samples using appropriate equipment
Recording observations and interpreting findings in conformity to standard testing procedures
Conducting experiments under specified conditions to verify or reject hypotheses using advanced scientific methods
Recording test results and experimental data accurately in electronic or written format
Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment according to environmental and health standards
Arranging and storing compressed gases, chemical substances and fluids according to the safety instructions
Ordering laboratory supplies, including test tools and equipment for research
Calculating and reporting experiment and test results to the Team Leader
Requirements
A minimum of a BSc in medical diagnostics, medical technology or an equivalent with a specialist in medical microbiology;
6 Years of experience in medical microbiology in a human clinical laboratory in developing countries with at least two years’ experience in a laboratory quality management role
Knowledge and experience in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases including specific hands-on laboratory experience.
