Description: Assessing nutrition needs: Evaluating a patients nutritional status and estimating their individual nutritional requirements
Developing care plans: Creating individualized care plans for patients and monitoring and reviewing them as needed
Communicating with patients and families: Counseling patients and families on dietary plans and communicating nutrition care plans to them
Collaborating with other health care professionals: Conferring with physicians and other members of the health care team
Educating staff and patients: Participating in the nutritional education of other hospital staff and developing educational materials for patients and patient groups
Managing administrative tasks: Developing and evaluating departmental-wide operating policy and directing major administrative assignments
Supervising staff: Supervising dietitians, dietetic technicians, and dietary aides
Senior dietitians should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be technologically savvy. They should also be motivated, compassionate, and dedicated to improving health outcomes.

Requirements: Abide by the codes of ethics of the Irish nutrition
and Dietetic Institute (INDI) and CORU.
Maintain valid statutory registration with CORU.
Attend mandatory training programmes as directed
by CRC.
Engage in supervision.
