Healthcare Project Manager Job Duties
Healthcare project managers typically have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Assisting in the development of departmental policies and procedures regarding issues such as infection control, patient privacy, and safe working conditions
- Monitoring progress on projects, communicating with clients to ensure that they are satisfied with the work that is being done, and resolving any issues that arise
- Managing staff within the department to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget
- Overseeing the procurement of supplies and materials needed for projects, including equipment and labor costs
- Scheduling medical staff members’ time for appointments with patients, surgeries, tests, and other procedures
- Developing budgets for projects and monitoring expenditures to ensure that costs remain within approved limits
- Maintaining contact with clients to ensure that they are satisfied with the services being provided to them
- Reviewing proposals from vendors to determine which company will be best able to fulfill the client’s needs
- Reviewing plans for new construction projects to ensure compliance with codes and regulations
- Requirements
- Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, business management, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
Proven experience in project management within the healthcare industry, including successful project completion.
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
