Description: Evaluate patients, perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress
Procedures
Perform endoscopic procedures like colonoscopies and sigmoidoscopies, as well as liver biopsies, ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRIs
Education
Gastroenterologists are internists who complete medical school, residency, and fellowship training
Settings
Work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, accidents and emergencies (A&E), intensive care, acute medical teams, trusts, and clinical nutrition

Requirements: Medical degree.
Completion of a three-year internal residency.
Completion of a three-year Gastroenterology fellowship.
Attainment of certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Proficiency in performing endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures.
Proficiency with X-Rays, MRIs, and ultrasound scanning.
Attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
