Nephrologists manage dialysis, a life-sustaining treatment for patients with severe kidney failure. This includes overseeing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
Kidney Transplantation:
They play a crucial role in the kidney transplant process, including evaluating potential candidates, coordinating pre- and post-transplant care, and managing immunosuppressant medications.
Patient Education:
Nephrologists educate patients about their kidney conditions, treatment options, and the importance of lifestyle modifications to manage their health.
Collaboration:
They collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians, dietitians, and transplant surgeons, to provide comprehensive patient care.
Research and Teaching:

Requirements: Doctoral degree in medicine.
BC/BE internal medicine.
Graduate of an accredited nephrology training program.
